Q: I get a message "HansVision DXT requires your regional language settings to be English (United States), please go to Control Panel to change the setting before continue with installation" when installing in Windows 98/ME, what shall I do?
A:
For Windows 98/ME, HansVision DXT and HansWare require your regional language settings to be English (United States).
To check if your settings are correct, kindly refer to the following steps:
1) Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
2) Double-click on Regional Settings.
3) If your selection is not English (United States), kindly click on the down arrow and make the appropriate selection.
4) Click OK, you'll be prompted to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
Q: I get a message "HansVision DXT requires your regional language settings to be Chinese (PRC), please go to Control Panel to change the setting before continue with installation" when installing in Windows 2000/XP, what shall I do?
A:
For Windows 2000/XP, HansVision DXT requires your regional language settings to be Chinese (PRC). To check if your settings are correct, kindly refer to the following steps:

Q: I get a message "An installation support file C:\....\TEMP\{8bd3eef9-...} could not be installed. Access is denied" or "Component transfer error: ..." during installation, what shall I do?
A:
It's possible that you might encounter this error message if you had a previously unsuccessful installation, due to interrupted transfer.
To ensure that you clear your temporary folder of any residual files, kindly refer to the following steps:
For Windows 2000/XP users:
1) Open My Computer or Windows Explorer.
2) From the menu, click on Tools -> Folder Options....
3) Click on the View tab, under Hidden files and folders, select the option Show hidden files and folders.
4) Click OK.
5) Browse to C:\Document and Settings\...\Local Settings\Temp, delete the entire folder {8bd3eef9-...} and close the window.
6) Re-install HansVision DXT or HansWare & Input Methods.
For Windows 98/ME users:
1) Open My Computer or Windows Explorer.
2) From the menu, click on View -> Folder Options....
3) Click on the View tab, under Hidden files, select the option Show all files.
4) Click OK.
5) Browse to C:\Windows\TEMP, delete the entire folder {8bd3eef9-...} and close the window.
6) Re-install HansVision DXT or HansWare & Input Methods.
Q: I get a blank screen when I restart my computer, after I've set the Regional Language to be Chinese (PRC) for Windows 2000/XP, what shall I do?
A:
This error might occur if you had previously attempted to install older and incompatible version of HansVision (e.g. HansOffice 2000, HansMaster 2000 Plus etc.) into Windows 2000 or XP.
To clean up the residual file from the previous installation, kindly download a utility tool and follow the instructions below:
1) Download the utility HansTool.exe, click on Save when prompted.
(Just save the file into a local directory such as My Documents folder)
2) From My Computer or Windows Explorer, go to the directory (e.g. My Documents folder) where you save the file.
3) Double-click on HansTool.exe to activate the program.
4) Click on Repair HsWare.
5) Click on Yes when prompted if you want to reset the code page values.
6) You may now continue to install the Simplified Chinese language support for Windows 2000/XP.

If you have problems restarting your computer, please follow the steps below:
1) Manually reboot your computer, through the RESET button on your CPU or turn off the CPU and turn on your PC again.
2) Repeatedly press on F8 button on your keyboard to enter the Advance Troubleshooting Options menu.
3) From the menu, scroll down and select the option "Last known good configuration", you should be able to restart your computer back to the state, before you set up the Regional Language to be Chinese (PRC).
4) Now that your computer can be restarted, follow the instructions above on how to clean up the residual file from the previous installation.
Q: There are many other software included in the supplied CD-ROM, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader 5 and Macromedia Flash 6 plug-in, do I need to install them all?
A:
Adobe Acrobat Reader 5 is required for viewing of HansVision DXT Online Manual in PDF format, while Macromedia Flash 6 plug-in is required to display the Welcome Screen in Flash movie. You're only required and advised to install HansVision DXT and HansWare & Input Methods while it's OPTIONAL if you do not wish to install any of the following bundled software.
If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your system or you are using Adobe Acrobat Reader 4 or below, you may also download from the Internet or install directly from the supplied CD-ROM. Clicking on the option will install or upgrade this component to Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.
(* Choosing setup from the Simplified Chinese installation menu will install the Chinese version of the software)
If you do not have Macromedia Flash plug-in installed on your system or you are using Macromedia Flash 5 plugin or below, you may also download from the Internet or install directly from the supplied CD-ROM. Clicking on the option will install or upgrade this component to Macromedia Flash 6 plug-in.
Q: How do I uninstall HansVision DXT or HansWare & Input Methods?
A:
For any other programs or applications, it's always advised that you un-install using the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs function. This will help ensure that the software can be removed completely. It's NEVER ADVISED that you remove the files directly from the Windows Desktop or from the Windows Explorer. To ensure that you're sucessful in un-installing HansVision DXT or HansWare & Input Methods, kindly follow the steps below:
MAKE SURE YOU CLOSE ALL APPLICATIONS BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH UN-INSTALLATION
1) Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
2) Double-click on Add/Remove Programs.
3) From the list of programs, locate HansVision DXT and/or HansWare.
4) Click on Add/Remove,and click Yes when prompted if you want to completely remove the programs.
5) Click on Finish when done, and Restart your computer if necessary.
