QUESTIONS FOR WIN 2000 / XP

Q: When I clicked on HansVision DXT or other Chinese documents, I'm unable to view any Chinese characters, what shall I do?

A:
In order to view and input Chinese, please ensure that you have installed the Simplified Chinese language support. To check if you have correctly installed the language support, kindly refer to the following documentation on

Windows 2000: Installing HansVision DXT & HansWare
Windows XP: Installing HansVision DXT & HansWare

(It's highly recommended that you install the Simplified Chinese language support FIRST before installing HansVision DXT and HansWare & Input Methods)

Q: I've already installed HansWare & Input Methods but I can't seemed to find HansWare 2002 desktop shortcut or HansWare toolbar, what shall I do?

A:
Kindly note that Windows 2000 is unlike Windows 98/ME, where you need to activate HansWare 2002 first, before selecting the input method from HansWare toolbar. For Windows 2000, only PJS input method is installed when installing HansWare as the Simplfied Chinese language support for Windows 2000 is already enabled, hence there would not be any desktop shortcut or toolbar for HansWare 2002.
For information on how to input Chinese, please refer to the following documentation on

Windows 2000: Chinese input with PJS
Windows XP: Chinese input with PJS
Windows XP: Chinese input with PJS (Multiple User)

Q: I'm using HansVision DXT 2002 Deluxe or Value edition on Windows 2000, and the program tabs at the top and bottom of HansVision DXT display "????" instead of Chinese characters when choosing the Chinese interface, what shall I do?

A:
The reason for the above-mentioned observation is because you DID NOT setup the Simplified Chinese language support for Windows 2000 first before installing HansVision DXT or HansWare & Input Methods.

To resolve this, kindly follow the steps below:

1) Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
2) Double-click on Add/Remove Programs.
3) From the list of programs, locate HansVision DXT and/or HansWare.
4) Click on Add/Remove, and click Yes when prompted if you want to completely remove the programs.
5) Click on Finish when done, and Restart your computer if necessary.

Once you have un-install both HansVision DXT and HansWare & Input Methods, you also need to uninstall the Simplified Chinese language support for Windows 2000.

To restore to previous configuration, please follow the steps below:

1) Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
2) Double-click on Regional Options.
3) From the General tab, and under Language settings for the system, scroll down the list and select Western European by clicking the option.
4) Click on Set default..., a dialog box will appear.
5) Click OK to close the dialog box, and restart your computer when prompted.

After the computer was restarted, you may re-do the process of installing the Simplified Chinese language support by referring to the following documentation on Installing HansVision DXT in Windows 2000, after which you will reinstall HansVision DXT and HansWare & Input Methods.

Q: How do I input Chinese characters into my documents? What if I'm not familiar with hanyu pinyin?

A:
For a quick guide on how to input Chinese, please refer to the following documentation.
For more detailed step-by-step guide to various input methods other than hanyu pinyin, please refer to the Online Manual by clicking on:

Start -> Programs -> HansVision DXT -> Online Manual.

Q: I'm unable to input Chinese, as the hanyu pinyin is displayed in my documents instead of the input bar, what shall I do?

A:
If you observe that the hanyu pinyin you input appeared in UPPER CASE on your document instead of the input bar, just TURN OFF Caps Lock and retry.

Q: I get the following message "PJS32.DLL has caused a general protection fault in module SIS540M.DRV..." or "PJS32.DLL has caused a general protection fault in module SIS630M.DRV..." when I try to input hanyu pinyin, what shall I do?

A:
The above affects IBM Aptiva desktops with integrated SIS video card. To resolve your problem, please download the latest video driver from the following IBM support site, and follow the on-screen instructions to install the new video driver.

Before downloading, you need to know the following hardware model:

1) Your IBM Aptiva model #
(Locate the model # at the CPU, which should display a sticker with a 4-digit number such as 2xxx-___ or 6xxx-___.)
2) Your integrated SIS video card model #
(Right-click on your desktop, select Properties. Click on Settings tab, and locate under Display: IBM Aptiva on SISxxx, where xxx can be 540 or 630.)

Q: My Internet Explorer 6/Outlook Express 6 displays a blank page when I clicked a hyperlink to open a new window, or the Internet Explorer menu display Chinese interface instead of English, what shall I do?
